Changes to the 263 Bus – have your say

Lynne with approaching W7 busTfL are planning to extend the 263 route which currently runs between Chambers Road and Barnet Hospital. I am aware that many constituents use this service, which stops at Highgate, Muswell Hill, and Fortis Green on its way to Barnet.

The plan is to extend the route along Holloway Road, stopping at Highbury and Islington station and terminating at Highbury Barn. This will mean a more frequent service along Holloway Road, but three current stops will no longer be used.

TfL are consulting on this to establish how local people feel this will affect them, and so please do let them know what you think. The consultation closes on 11th April – more details and the survey can be found at https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/buses/bus-route-263.

  1. Think you might find the 263 does not come to muswell hill, fortis green etc nearest it comes to muswell hill is east finchley tube station!!

  2. The 263 is now terminating at a dropping-off stop in Highbury Barn that previously was only occasionally used by the no 19 as a mid-route turn-around point. This is causing disruption to local traffic and residents as there is insufficient space for the buses to park. Sometimes there are as many as 4 buses stationed there, blocking the area and adjacent main road, and despite promises in the TFL consultation report, they often leave their engines running. We now have drivers from routes 19 and 263 hooting at each other, cars hooting at the buses, klaxon sounds as the buses test their panic alarms, buses parking on the pavement blocking the entrance to the park and diesel fumes, from early in the morning until late at night. There appears to be no useful purpose to the buses coming up the Highbury Barn, as the route was already well served by other bus routes.
