Lynne, I require firm clarification in regards to your position. You assert quite passionately that “And one of the things terrorists want is to get rid of liberal society”. Please adduce verified and valid evidence. Contrary to your remarks, it is quite evident that “terrorist” despise us not for our freedom, but most suggest their hatred emerges from our occupation and participation in the Middle East. Our actions and support for “puppet regimes” which are not elected by the people, provides enormous amounts of ammunition for extremist to exploit the situation. Before September 11th 2001, the Taliban led delegations to Texas in the United States to forge contract oil deals, which we simply disregard nowadays- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/west_asia/37021.stm There were cases all the way up until year 2000. Our politicians are eager to provide ‘lip service’ in areas of conflict rather than find a viable and peaceful solution to the Middle East conflict. This further enflames hatred into the hearts of Arabs in the Middle East. A point of most significance is that Britain was responsible for the crisis in the Middle East not Palestinian or terrorist or anyone else at a matter of fact. The main reason for anger within the Muslim community is as coherently outlined below. Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and an Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states the following:”As Muslims it is our religious duty to show solidarity with our brothers and sisters who are suffering in Palestine, Kashmir and every part of the world; we must also show solidarity with the oppressed in any part of the world regardless of their religious or racial or ethnic affiliations.”Therefore, our disappointment and anger will remain until we resolve the most pressing conflicts in the world. When we come to specific ways of translating this solidarity into practical steps, I can classify them into long term and short term measures.
Mash – if you read what I wrote you will see that I say that ‘one of the things the terrorists want is to get rid of a liberal society’. Yes it is. Of course our foreign policy is causal – but the response in terms of terrorism in this country is totally unacceptable albeit thus caused and any loss of our civil liberties is a victory for the terrorist. You are talking about the reasons for anger in the muslim community. I am talking about terrorists – not muslims!
Mash – if you read what I wrote you will see that I say that ‘one of the things the terrorists want is to get rid of a liberal society’. First of all, I would like to point out that we live in an age of propaganda. It is an age, almost helpless under the control of vested interests of big business. This definitely includes the media industry. The media would say anything that fits its own ignorant agenda. If you do not agree with certain policies of a country, you endorse extremist and therefore want to get rid of liberal democracy. Before, the terrible events of September 11th 2001, why did Taliban not want to get rid of our liberal society, because they were engaging in oil deals with liberal countries. The family of the world’s number one ‘terrorist’ live in the free world and so do many extremist without complaining. Yes it is. Of course our foreign policy is causal – but the response in terms of terrorism in this country is totally unacceptable albeit thus caused and any loss of our civil liberties is a victory for the terrorist. You do not clarify who are the terrorist? What is their actual grievance? Why are we not engaging in a dialogue with all those that dislike us, this would allow us to understand why everyone appears to dislike us? The letter which i sent to you about engaging with militant groups would put a stop to all this violence and build understanding between ‘us’ and ‘them’. You are talking about the reasons for anger in the muslim community. I am talking about terrorists – not muslims!I need clarification? Are we talking about Taliban or various groups?Mash
