Female sentencing discount is pretty much guaranteed in 80% of cases these days.Of course quite a few men get ridiculously short sentences too, but the main factor behind getting let off is quite obviously gender.There was an especially interesting study in America on the issue recently.It goes without saying they found that women got much shorter sentences for the same crime, but when they looked at the issue in more detail they found that racism was also an issue and worked in opposite ways depending on your gender. I.e. for the same offence black women got by far the shortest sentences of any group, and black men got jailed for even longer than white men.Anyway, nice to see a politician highlighting a ridiculously short sentence like this.
