LOCAL LIB DEM COUNCILOR COMPLETES LONDON MARATHON

Lib Dem councillor Matt Davies ran and completed the London Marathon at the weekend, and in the process raised over £1,500 for the Terrence Higgins Trust. Cllr Davies, who represents Fortis Green ward on Haringey Council, finished the world’s biggest marathon in five hours and 45 minutes.

“The race went pretty much according to plan,” said a tired but delighted Matt Davies back home in Muswell Hill. “There was one slightly downbeat moment after seven miles, when a runner dressed in a rhinoceros suit ran straight past me, but it wasn’t too much of a setback. I’m very pleased to have finished the course.”

Matt was congratulated by fellow councillor Lynne Featherstone:

“We’re very proud of Matt,” said Ms Featherstone. “The whole council team has been encouraging him as much as we could in the past few weeks. I’m very pleased he has made it, and raised so much money for the Terrence Higgins Trust.”
