FEATHERSTONE RE-ELECTED LOCAL LEADER

Haringey’s Liberal Democrats, greatly strengthened by the election results, have unanimously re-elected popular local councillor Lynne Featherstone as leader of the council group.

Ms Featherstone has just led her party to spectacular gains in the local elections, moving from three seats to 15 on Haringey council, and wiping out the Conservatives in the process.

Ross Laird, the party’s education spokesman and councillor for Muswell Hill, was elected as Deputy leader.Wayne Hoban, newly elected councillor for Alexandra Ward, becomes Chair of the Council Group.Stephen Gilbert, newly elected in Fortis Green, becomes the council group whip.

The Lib Dems will announce other portfolios and appointments to committees and bodies in the coming weeks.
